I am currently a Senior Engineer in the Office of the Chief Scientist (OOTCS) at Qualcomm Inc., San Diego, CA, USA.
I completed my Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in November 2013.
My research was with Prof. Bernd Girod in the areas of low bit-rate image-based retrieval, streaming mobile augmented reality and video quality monitoring.
I was a research intern in HP Labs during the period from June to September 2011.
I successfully completed my M.Sc. program in Electrical Engineering at Alexandria University, Egypt in December 2006, where I also received my B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, with distinction - degree of honor. I am the recipient of the top 10% paper award from the 13th IEEE International Workshop on Multimedia Signal Processing (MMSP - 2011). I am a co-author of papers that won the Best Student Paper Award from the IEEE Data Compression Conference (DCC-2014) and the 5th International Mobile Multimedia Communications Conference (MobiMedia-2009). My papers at international conferences have been finalists for the Best Student Paper Award three times including ICIP-2012, ICASSP-2009 and Asilomar-2009 conferences. I have over 25 publications in the form of journal papers, conference papers, and MPEG contributions. |
